Hello, my name is Demetrio Roberto Ferrara, owner “dei Guardiani dello Stretto” dog breeding farm, recognised by the FCI since 7th February 2005.  I’ve always loved big dogs, in particular the Rottweiler, but living in an city apartment with my wife Maria who doesn’t like any animals in the house, meant that the idea of owning a Rottweiler had always remained a distant dream...a dream which I once confided to a colleague at work, “Fabio Dimarco”.

And so it was that on the 3rd November 2000, Fabio called me at home to tell me he was nearby with a small present for me...a 2 month old Rottweiler puppy.  Holding the puppy in my arms, I couldn’t have been happier...until the panic hit me as I wondered how Iwas going to explain this one at home! But I needn’t have worried...after a few days of chaos at home, even my wife Maria had fallen in love with our new arrival, who was christened “RAMBO” by Cristina, Alessia and Aurora, my three daughters who were joined in October 2004 by my son Arturo.  Rambo took part in a few dog exhibitions but it soon became obvious that he was destined to be a house pet and would never be the star of the show.

In November 2002, I came across an advertisment on the website of Rottweilermagazine for a 20 month old Rottweiler called “Ayanco” who had become too difficult for his owner to control.  I contacted the breeder Ermanno Alviggi  “degli Antichi Molossi” dog breeding farm who explained that the dog had an extremely strong character but had beed badly trained.  Having decided to take on the agonising training process with Ayanco, it soon became clear that we had a strong bond that would result in numerous exhibition prizes;

30.03.03  1st  prize Excellent  National Exhibition in Messina, Judge Winsor

27.04.03 1st prize Excellent National Exhibition in Ragusa, Judge Alessandri

01.06.03 1st prize Excellent National Exhibition in V. Valentia, Judge Tripoli

21.09.03 1st prize Excellent in Meeting of RCI di Siderno, Judge Pentenero (later demoted to second prize due to irritation)

When the local trainers that I brought Ayanco to advised against undertaking the process of exhibition training due to his “irritable and aggressive” nature, I knew that I would have to train him myself.  So we started with obedience and circuit training, but for the Section “C” training we turned to Massimo Boasi, owner “dei Briganti della Piana” Rottweiler breeding farm, and trainer based in Lamezia Terme over 100km from my home in Reggio Calabria.  Following 4 months of preparation, I enrolled Ayanco in the SCH H1 tests organised by the RCI for the 25th November 2003 in Palermo, to be judged by Carlo Mezzetti.

On the morning of the event we had arrived in Palermo by 5AM. I was full of emotion but Ayanco seemed calm and confident.  A few hours later, with results of 96 in Section A, 85 in Section B and 89 in Section C, we had taken 1st prize and the complements of Judge Mezzetti, the ENCI delegation and everyone present.

Since then until today, we have experienced the ever-increasing emotion of exhibition and breeding results with numerous prizes in little more than 2 years.  In November 2003, I met Francesco Zamperini, owner of the “dell’Antico Guerriero” breeding farm, who deserves huge thanks for the professionalism, competence and availability that he has dispayed towards me in that time.  Also a special thanks to “my family” for your constant support.
